Browsing

You can search and read every listing without an account. Sonderwatch sets no advertising cookies, and analytics cookies only if you accept them (below). Saving cars, selections and alerts need an account.

Analytics

If you accept, Google Analytics counts visits and the pages viewed, so we can see how the site is used. It sets two cookies, _ga and one starting _ga_, that last up to two years, and Google processes what they measure on our behalf, possibly outside the UK. Google Analytics does not store your IP address, and we do not use it for advertising. If you reject or ignore the banner, nothing is sent to Google. Your choice is kept in this browser, and you can change it here at any time.

Separately, and without any cookie, we count how many times each car's page is opened and its link to the seller's listing is followed, per day, so we can tell dealers how many visits we send them. Only the totals are stored: nothing that identifies you, your device or your account.

Your account

An account holds your email address, the first name you choose to give (shown on selections you share), the cars you save and your private notes on them, your selections and their comments, and your saved searches and alert settings. We use them only to run those features for you.

Signing in uses a link (or a code) sent to your email, or a passkey. For a passkey we keep only its public key: your fingerprint or face never leaves your device. To keep your account safe we record when and from which browser you signed in, and the network address, for 60 days.

Emails

We email you the sign-in links you ask for, alerts you create, and, if you keep them on, updates about cars you saved. Every email except sign-in emails has a one-click unsubscribe; your account page has every switch. We do not track whether you open emails or click links in them, and we send no marketing.

Sharing

A selection is private until you turn on its link. Anyone with the link can then see its title, introduction, cars and comments, and your first name if you gave one, never your email. Turning the link off, or resetting it, stops the old link working at once.

Your rights

You can download everything held about you, correct it, or delete your account with everything in it, from your account page, at any time. Deleting is immediate. You can also ask us to restrict or stop using your data, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Who handles it

Your account data is stored on servers in the UK or EU and sent only to the companies that host the site and deliver its emails, under contract, for that purpose; if you accept analytics cookies, Google measures your visits as described above. We never sell your data or share it with dealers: contacting a dealer is always your own step, on their website.
