Seller's description
Three pedals, a naturally aspirated flat six and a specification that gives a Cayman enthusiast plenty to get excited about. This one is very much my sort of Porsche. I love them. The size, the seating position, the engine behind you and the way the whole car seems to gather around the driver. A good Cayman makes an ordinary drive feel worthwhile, and a manual S with this specification is exactly the sort of example I enjoy finding for Vertex. This one has covered just 36,930 miles. She comes with a stamped history showing Porsche Centre Silverstone servicing followed by JGC Porsche Specialist, and a particularly appealing collection of options. PASM, Sport Chrono, a mechanical rear differential lock and 20 inch Carrera S wheels, alongside PCM navigation, BOSE and heated seats. There is a lot here for someone who intends to use and enjoy their Porsche. The manual gearbox is central to why I wanted to offer her. Six gears, three pedals and the opportunity to enjoy the engine on your own terms. There is pleasure in choosing the gear yourself, judging the revs and getting a sequence of corners right. Those small moments are a large part of why I love driving, and they suit a Cayman beautifully. Behind you is the S model’s 3.4 litre naturally aspirated flat six, producing 325 PS. It has the breadth to make everyday driving easy and the appetite for revs to make a favourite road something to look forward to. As the engine gathers pace, the sound becomes a much bigger part of the experience. With the manual gearbox, you get to decide how long to enjoy each part of it. The chassis is every bit as important. The mid engine layout gives the Cayman its characteristic balance, with the car feeling centred around you as you turn into a bend. It is a lovely shape and size for a British road, too. You can place it accurately and enjoy the way it responds to a measured steering input or a change in throttle. Porsche Active Suspension Management gives you electronically controlled damping, with a choice of settings to suit the drive. Sport Chrono adds another layer of adjustment to the car’s responses, while the mechanical rear differential lock is a particularly worthwhile inclusion for someone interested in the chassis. Together with the manual transmission, these are options that give an enthusiast a very clear reason to look closely at this car. The 20 inch Carrera S wheels give her a lovely stance, complementing the flowing roofline, rear haunches and side intakes. The dark paintwork shows real depth in daylight, and the shape still looks beautifully resolved. The Cayman has always had a strong identity of its own, and the 981 wears it particularly well. There is everyday enjoyment in the specification as well. PCM navigation, BOSE Surround Sound, heated seats, automatic climate control and cruise control make this a Porsche you can comfortably plan a few days away in. The useful luggage space is another reason I rate these cars so highly. There is plenty of appeal in choosing a great driving road and booking somewhere at the other end. The service book adds substance to that enthusiasm. The first recorded service was at just 1,494 miles. Four Porsche Centre Silverstone entries are followed by two at JGC Porsche Specialist, with the most recent specialist visit at 35,081 miles. That entry includes handwritten notes for air filters and gearbox oil, alongside the marked maintenance, spark plug and drive belt work. We have now continued that care here at The Vertex Collection. On 23 October 2026, at the current 36,930 miles, we carried out an engine oil and filter service, air filter replacement, brake fluid change and vehicle inspection. It is preparation I am pleased to put our name to, alongside the record that brought her here. For me, the rarity is in the complete combination: a manual S, modest mileage, these chassis options and a documented maintenance story. When you have a particular Cayman in mind, each of those things matters. Finding them together is what makes an example worth waiting for. I would happily spend a viewing talking through why this one appeals to me. Then I would want you to get comfortable in the driving seat and understand the attraction for yourself. The service record documents modest mileage building steadily over the years, with maintenance continuing through Porsche and then a Porsche specialist. It is a substantial part of this car’s appeal. It starts with Porsche Centre Silverstone at just 1,494 miles in July 2015. The car returned there in 2017, 2019 and 2021, before moving to JGC Porsche Specialist for the 2023 and 2025 entries. There is a clear sequence to follow, with the mileage increasing from 1,494 to 10,860, 21,586, 24,432, 30,024 and then 35,081 miles. You can see how lightly she has been used between the later services, while still continuing to receive attention. The August 2025 JGC entry is particularly pleasing. Alongside the marked maintenance, spark plug replacement and drive belt work, there are handwritten notes for air filters and gearbox oil. Just 1,849 miles separate that visit from our own preparation. Our own service and inspection follow on 23 October 2026 at 36,930 miles, with the work detailed below. That gives the next owner a documented maintenance story to examine and fresh preparation at the mileage shown in this advert. The exterior photograph shows a lovely depth to the paintwork, with clear reflections across the bonnet and front wings. The dark finish brings out the curves of the body, while the Carrera S wheels give the car its purposeful stance. The stamped history is now complemented by our own service and inspection at 36,930 miles. That preparation gives us something concrete to explain alongside the car’s presentation and specification. We welcome a thorough viewing and can provide a personal walkaround ahead of your visit. Take time with the presentation, the specification and the service book. This Cayman deserves to be considered as a whole. We are a family run business, and the cars we choose reflect what we enjoy and believe in. I want to be able to explain why an example belongs here and help its next owner appreciate the details that made us choose it.
