Seller's description

The 997 was the third 911 to carry the GT3 badge. It was launched in 2006 and the engine still had the famous Mezger block with 3.6 litres in capacity, producing 415 hp at 7,600 rpm and 405 Nm (430 Nm in sport mode). 0 to 62 mph took 4.3 seconds, while the top speed was 192 mph. In the suspension department, there were some changes as well, a wider track, 19″ instead of 18″ wheels with 305 section rear tyres, monobloc brake calipers and 350 mm rear rotors. Further more, the new Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with electric damper control and different driving modes came as standard. The last Porsche 911 GT3 to be fitted with the Mezger block and manifold injection was the 997.2 GT3 (Carrera and Turbo were equipped with direct fuel injection engines). With its increased capacity of 3.8 litres, the new 911 GT3 pushed out a strong 435 hp and 430 Nm. At the same time, the rev limit was raised even further to 8,400 rpm. Besides the one-piece rear wing, the new GT3 could easily be recognised due to new centre-lock wheels. The Porsche 997.2 GT3 was exceptionally well received when it was launched. Evo magazine described it as “one of the best driver’s 911s ever”, and even now many Porsche enthusiasts claim it has the best blend for both road and track engagement. This particular example was built in late 2009, with the rare 003 code indicating the factory Clubsport Package. It was delivered in the UK (C16 model) in Jan 2010. It is finished in the classic Porsche shade of Guards Red, coupled with a black interior featuring Nomex and carbon-fibre bucket seats, black Alcantara, and eye-catching Guards Red seat belts. The car rides on its original 19-inch centre-lock ‘GT3’ alloy wheels, shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and red callipers. Included in the desirable factory specification are the Chrono Package Plus and lightweight bucket seats to deliver a more involving driving experience. The car is equipped with the OEM Porsche GT3 sports exhaust. The Guards Red paintwork presents exceptionally well, and in summer of 2023 we carried out a full program of paint correction and ceramic coating to preserve it. The car is accompanied by the original owner’s book pack, stamped service book, various invoices and receipts, and two keys. This car has full Porsche main dealer and specialist service history. Additionally, new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres were fitted within the last 500 miles.
