Seller's description
Finished in period Laguna Blue over a black leather interior, this is an exceptionally well-sorted, high-specification 914 engineered to deliver a true 911-rivalling driving experience. Originally delivered to a US Porsche dealership in December 1974, this car was sourced from an architect in Oregon before being imported to the UK in 2008. In 2020, it was acquired by a dedicated Porsche collector who commissioned a comprehensive restoration. The project included a complete engine and drivetrain teardown, full vehicle repaint, and meticulous reassembly. The 915 Gearbox Conversion: To handle the significant power increase, the car underwent an extensive and costly Type 915 5-speed gearbox conversion—a massive upgrade over the standard 901 unit. Far from a straightforward swap, this complex engineered modification required custom mounting points, a 916-style gear shifter, and an integrated oil cooler setup. During the recent rebuild, the transmission was fully overhauled by renowned gearbox specialist Dave Lee and fitted with a brand-new clutch and associated hardware. The result is a precise, robust shift quality that completely transforms the car’s dynamics and elevates the entire driving experience. If you haven’t driven a properly sorted 914, this example will convert you. Its low kerb weight and mid-engine balance deliver precise, confidence-inspiring handling paired with genuinely surprising performance. With the removable Targa roof stowed, the air-cooled twin-plug soundtrack is absolute perfection. Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file detailing the recent UK rebuild, along with US service records dating back to 1991 and photographic records documenting its life in Oregon and its transformation in the UK.
