Seller's description
This example of the 997 Carrera is in superb condition throughout, having been lovingly cared for by its previous keeper for 8 years. The engine number confirms that the IMS bearing is of the later, stronger configuration, so this topic of concern needn’t be worried about with this example. Presented in the beautiful Seal Grey body colour (paint colour code L6B4), the body is perfectly straight and original, with paintwork that is immaculate, possessing a beautiful glossy finish. The car has benefitted from our usual FGP full day’s detailing process and as such the superb aesthetics of the 911 are emphasised and protected. Being a non-sun roof example, the roofline is sleek and uncluttered. The headlights are crystal clear, free from oxidisation. The brake callipers have been refinished in Guards Red and look fantastic through the original and genuine Porsche BBS 19″ “Lobster Claw” alloy wheels, which are in unmarked condition. Within the cockpit lays a timeless black leather interior, completing a classy colour combination on a 911, complimenting the grey exterior. The condition of the interior is outstanding and a credit to the Porsche’s previous custodian. The front leather seats are beautifully supple, with no cracking or noteworthy wear whatsoever. Other frequent contact points, such as the steering wheel and handbrake, are also unworn. The dashboard, door-cards and headlining etc all present beautifully. The electrically operated functions all work as they should, including the ice cool air conditioning. The Carrera is fairly modestly specified, and its simplicity makes for a charming, engaging sports car. There are two remote key fobs and the option codes are as follows: C16, 234, 403, 567, 610, 670, 936, 981, 983. The 3.6 litre flat 6 is in fine fettle, with a smooth idle, impressive on-the-road performance and a wonderful noise to suit. The engine number confirms that the IMS bearing is of Porsche’s later, strengthened variant, so is without cause for concern. The clutch has been renewed as part of our sales preparation process, and as such, is light with a positive bite. During this works, we also renewed the rear main oil seal, so the car is dry at its underside. The well-regarded 6 speed manual transmission passes through the gears smoothly and the brakes are nearly new in all four corners, stopping the car sharply and confidently. The handling is tight and sharp, having had the renewal of 2x inner track arms, 2x track rod ends, 2x front top mounts, 2x front top bearing, 2x front bump stops, followed by a four-wheel alignment, during our sales preparation process. Pirelli P Zero tyres with 6mm of tread to the front and 7mm of tread to the rear, provide great grip and traction. The 997 has a complete servicing record, evidencing how it’s only ever been cared for by Porsche main dealer or Porsche independent specialists. There is a folder with vast documentation relating to the Porsche’s history, including maintenance works invoices, historic MOT certificates, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and previous sales invoices. The original Porsche leather owners wallet contains all the original manuals and the service booklet, which documents 9 intervals completed, which are as follows: 08/03/2007 – 20,126 miles, 01/04/2009 – 35,406 miles, 28/03/2011 – 52,704 miles, 18/04/2013 – 63,968 miles, 23/06/2014 – 68,304 miles, 22/03/2016 – 70,884 miles, 18/15/2018 – 71,953 miles, 06/10/2020 – 72,292 miles, 31/03/2022 – 72,367 miles. As is noted, we have just completed a service on the car, and this was a “major” interval including spark plugs replacement. As part of our sales preparation process, we have also completed the following: Brake fluid change, installation of 2x missing glove box lid damping struts, renew of bonnet latch microswitch, renew coolant expansion tank, renew coolant expansion tank cap, renew feed / O/S “over engine” aluminium coolant pipe, renew rear main oil seal, renew three-piece clutch kit, renew brake calliper dust covers, renew 2x front suspension top mounts, renew 2x front suspension top bearing, renew 2x front suspension bump stops, renew 2x front suspension dust bellows, renew 2x steering inner track arms, renew 2x steering track rod ends, and four-wheel alignment.
