Seller's description

1998 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 2, Manual, Ocean Blue Metallic An early 996 in rare Ocean Blue Metallic: a manual coupé with sunroof, the desirable cable throttle and the revvy 3. 4-litre flat-six. The 3. 4 is less prone to bore scoring than the larger-bore 3. 6 and 3. 8 engines. Early cars like this also use the double-row IMS bearing, which has a far lower failure rate than the later single-row cars, and this one has been upgraded to an LN Engineering IMS Retrofit anyway. It has main dealer and Porsche specialist history, with a large file of invoices and receipts going back to the early 2000s. The paint is believed to be original. The colour is lovely, though the bonnet and front bumper would benefit from re-lacquering or a repaint. Good early 996s are getting harder to find, especially in this colour, and this one has been well looked after with a huge amount of invoices dating back to the early 2000's and all of its books and tools etc as well as a spare key and there is an outdoor car cover available with the car. The good: - IMS bearing: LN Engineering IMS Retrofit fitted by JMG Porsche on 18 January 2016 at 91, 496 miles. At the same time it had a new clutch, dual-mass flywheel and rear main seal, plus new front discs and pads and refurbished callipers. - New engine mounts just fitted (31st October 2026) - PIRELLI PZERO Tyres all round dated 2025 on the both fronts and 2024 on both rears. - Fuel rail and injector replaced (2018); rear discs and pads (2018) - Nearside brake pipe replaced (Porsche Centre Bournemouth, 2016); both front brake hoses, pipe-end repairs, ABS sensor and handbrake overhaul (Silvertune Porsche, 2025) - Refurbished starter motor (2025) - It will be sold with a fresh oil service by independent specialists Porsche Torque - Mileage consistent across 23 MOTs and invoices; MOT until January 2027; HPI clear and a clean CarVertical report done in October 2026 that I can share. - Porsche Certificate of Conformity applied for. Based on its emissions figures I expect it to be ULEZ compliant, as other 3. 4 996s have been. - Private registration [S7 PKJ] included in the sale. The bad: - Lacquer peeling on the bonnet and front bumper, and stone chips to the front end, as you’d expect at this mileage - There is some minor corrosion to the nearside rear wheel arch, but this is the only spot I can see and it can be rectified easily as a localised repair.
