Seller's description

Porsche’s 993 was a version of the company’s iconic 911 model, produced between 1993 and 1998. It was the last air-cooled Porsche, and is therefore often described by 911 enthusiasts as the last ‘true’ 911. Compared to the previous 964, the 993 had wider and flatter front wings, smoother bumpers front and rear, a shorter and higher front luggage compartment lid, and a larger automatically extending rear spoiler. The front headlights were now more obviously sloped, giving the car a much more modern appearance, while the taillights were positioned higher on the body. Mechanically, improvements included an all-new multi-link rear suspension mounted on an aluminium subframe, six-speed manual transmission, refined optional all-wheel-drive system, larger brakes with drilled discs, revised power steering and a new dual-flow exhaust. The 993 Carrera RS, standing for ‘Rennsport’ (or ‘Race Sport’ in English), was a lightweight version of the base Carrera, produced in model years 1995 and 1996. It was stripped of anything that could be deemed unnecessary – including the headlight washers, sound proofing and rear seats – meaning around 100kg was shaved off the weight of the Carrera. Changes on the outside included a non-retractable ‘whale tail’ spoiler and lightweight three-piece 18-inch aluminium ‘speedline’ wheels. Inside, special lightweight racing seats were fitted in the front with simple door cards. The only factory options were an even bigger rear spoiler and roll cage The RS was never certified for sale to the United States, but was approved for normal street use in many other countries around the world. Only 1,014 were built, and its consequent rarity has ensured an ever-increasing market value. C00 German LHD, M471 Clubsport Front Spoiler & Rear Wing, 573 – Air Conditioner, 197 – Stronger Battery, 562 – Front Airbags, 567 – Top-Tinted Windscreen, 651 – Electric Windows, Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB Stereo with USB And Bluetooth Connectivity. The timeless 993 is arguably the pinnacle of 911 design, further enhanced in RS form by a perfect blend of angles, aerodynamics and aggression. Glistening in a coat of solid black this RS is more eye catching than most, benefitting from a factory M471 Clubsport aero kit which includes a large adjustable rear wing and deep front spoiler to produce an entirely more purposeful look. Still sporting its original factory panels throughout this lucky 993 has avoided the fate of so many out there and remains completely accident free. Presenting with a radiant shine across the cars intricate bodywork, the condition of this 993 RS is superb, showing with nothing more than just a handful of light stone chips around the front bumper and bonnet, more than in keeping with the cars age and mileage. The lightweight interior features one of the finest road going seats available; the Recaro Pole Position bucket. The backs matching the exterior colour with the seat trimmed in soft black leather and grey inserts. Having covered sensible mileage the interior finishing is as you’d expect in excellent condition whilst displaying light patina commensurate with age and mileage. With a Classic look, modern Bluetooth Blaupunkt stereo and all important factory AC the basic touring requirements are met for this example to be enjoyed in any climate. Producing around 300 bhp the 3.8L Flat-6 is the ultimate evolution of the naturally aspirated air-cooled 911, punching the lightweight RS from 0-60 in just 5 seconds and onto a top speed of 172 mph. Retaining its original engine this matching numbers example presents in superb mechanical condition, with an incredible invoice portfolio supporting a consistent and comprehensive maintenance regime throughout the cars life. Completing the race inspired aesthetic of the RS, a set of 18″ Speedline ‘Supercup’ split-rims look superb and show in excellent condition, with the laser etched branding still clearly visible. Brand new Porsche N rated matching Michelin tyres are fitted at each corner. Red Porsche branded Brembo callipers show through the spokes and present well, clamped to drilled disc brakes all round. Produced for the Home German market and first registered 08/07/1996 this superbly original RS has spent nearly all its life in Japans excellent climate and in fastidious obsessive ownership. A full book pack, inclusive of original service booklet, sits alongside two spare keys to complete a very neat history record.
