Seller's description

Could you see yourself as the new owner of my rather special Porsche 944 ? Being a 1989 car, this is the rare and last of the series 1 which benefits from the 2. 7 litre engine - the pre ‘89 cars all having the 2. 5 version. I've enjoyed the car for the last three years having acquired it from a fellow Porsche enthusiast who sold it to me to raise funds for his new Porsche project, now I'm passing it on to a genuine enthusiast for the same reason. I also have a manual Cayman S but I'm finding both cars difficult to enjoy as I have a troublesome left knee so I'm selling both to fund a 981 Cayman in PDK. During my ownership it has been driven to Porsche meets and occasional weekends away covering very few miles between MOTs and I've always kept her in a heated, carpeted and dehumidified garage. It has excellent paintwork in a very rare shade of Baltic Blue Metallic which is complimented by a matching blue pinstripe velour and leather interior. The blue dash is thankfully free of the well documented fading and cracking so often seen with this model and theres also the bonus of a great sounding Blaupunkt stereo - paired with an original Blaupunkt Graphic Equaliser and even a 1980's car phone ! The interior is in superb condition and there are custom made luxury floor mats too. Completing the picture inside is the addition of a superb MOMO Prototipo Heritage Steering Wheel in soft, aged leather which is complete with an embossed leather Porsche crested horn push. Everything works as it should, all switchgear is in perfect condition and the sunroof, electric seats and windows all operate perfectly. The heater is particularly efficient and the pop up headlights operate with perfect symmetry. Operate the electric boot release and under the rear carpet area you'll find the Original Porsche Tool Kit, the Spare Wheel and the Jack. I have the original blue rear load cover too along with the original blue leather steering wheel if you wish to return the interior to complete factory spec. Mechanically it is perfectly on song starting easily with no smoke of any kind, settling to a satisfying even idle with no strange noises or vibrations and pulling strongly through the gears with precise steering and predictable handling and braking. Always run on Shell V-Power. The sale is supported by an extensive and comprehensive history file with all paperwork in chronological order to evidence excellent mechanical maintenance over the years. It should be noted that during a recent visit to Porsche Guildford the car received much attention and admiration from the technicians there who put it on the lift before issuing an inspection report which further backs up its current condition. The tyres have covered very few miles and are wrapped around superb Fuchs alloys which are finished in satin black with polished rims having also the full colour crested centre caps. The wheels are staggered fitment with wider rear tyres which gives the car a great stance. The last two MOTs were carried out without advisories at Porsche Guildford in addition to its full inspection there in May '25 with few miles covered since. At Charles Ivey Porsche Specialist with the mileage at 102574, a significant amount of important work was carried out giving the car a new cam belt along with the all important rollers and tensioners plus two Fuel Regulators and Water Pump etc... costing £2572. 21 Also around this time a major service including extensive brake work was completed costing £1992. The Option codes are 164, 288, 424, 526, 533, 593, 593, 605, 650 with Paint LM5p Baltic Blue. I have a large folder of bills to verify diligent maintenance of this excellent car along with MOT Certificates and the original drivers handbooks and manuals etc. The private plate has been on the car for more than thirty years. The original side windows bear the usual vertical scratches though I have recently sourced and will include a replacement pair which are in excellent condition. There are some marks around the sunroof panel which would improve with a machine polish or may be better repainted. A straightforward job as the sunroof lifts out in seconds. The electric sunroof itself operates perfectly, has a newly fitted pair of seals and can be easily lifted out and stowed in the boot on sunny days. I'll also include a custom fitted car cover in super soft stretchy fabric. In summary, this superb and eye catching Classic draws much admiration at meets and shows and is currently owned by a diligent Porsche Club Great Britain Member. It has a practical side too benefitting from low cost classic insurance, very decent fuel economy and a surprisingly good load capacity and snug rear seats, the backrest of which folds flat providing a large space making this car perfect for more road trips well into the future. Genuine enquiries only please.
