Seller's description
In the mid-1980s, many buyers loved the look of the 930 Turbo but were wary of its ferocious, all-at-once boost, which earned it the “widowmaker” nickname. Porsche’s answer was the Carrera 3.2 Supersport. It took the Turbo’s dramatic flared arches, tea-tray rear wing, 930 brakes and Turbo-derived suspension, and paired them with the sweet, naturally aspirated 3.2-litre flat-six and a five-speed manual gearbox. The result was the Turbo look without the Turbo’s temperament. Supersport equipment added thousands of pounds to a Carrera’s price in the UK, so relatively few were built, and the Cabriolet was the rarest body style of all. The Carrera 3.2 is widely regarded as one of the finest classic 911s. Classic & Sports Car described it as “the supercar you can use and afford.” Its air-cooled engine is celebrated for its deep, mechanical soundtrack and linear pull. The unassisted steering is full of feel, and the Turbo-derived chassis gives the Supersport a planted, confidence-inspiring stance. This 1986 example has covered just 50,580 miles and is exceptionally original. It retains its original body panels, original paintwork and original interior, which matters enormously to serious buyers who increasingly seek out unrestored cars. The car is finished in black with a matching black hood. The deep front spoiler, tea-tray rear wing and widened Turbo haunches give it real presence, and the black-centred Fuchs wheels with polished rims complete the look. Inside, the cream leather cabin contrasts beautifully with the black coachwork. The sports seats have perforated centres and black piping, with matching door inserts and rear seats, a black dashboard and black carpets. The four-spoke Porsche steering wheel, classic five-dial instrument cluster and period Blaupunkt radio cassette complete an interior that has been preserved rather than restored. Forty years after leaving Stuttgart, this Supersport Cabriolet offers low mileage, outstanding originality and recent specialist care. It’s the iconic 1980s Turbo look combined with the classic air-cooled 911 experience, in its most desirable open-top form. At George Gehdu Cars, every vehicle is selected with precision, experience, and a genuine passion for automotive excellence. "George was extremely quick in finding me a replacement car once he sold my McLaren 570s in no time! I asked for a high spec 720s in replacement and within 48 hours he delivered a orange car with every option ticked when the open market had nothing similar to offer!" "I have bought multiple cars from George and would highly recommend them. The team is a joy to deal with and George is absolutely fantastic. I will be buying my next car from them again." "Well what can I say. Iv purchased many cars from George. But one thing that stands out is the customer service that I receive. If you need any type of car, George is your man! He doesn't just make you feel like a normal customer." "Saw the car after one of George's video went viral on social media. Came down and viewed the car and it was in fantastic conditon. George is so passionate about the McLaren brand and new everything from top to bottom as well as the history of this particlar 570s that I was purchasing. Couldn't recommend George enough to any prospective buyer." "George approached me with a blinding deal on a Ghost Black Badge, he knew I was in the market for a Rolls and made it happen! I'd highly recommend him to everyone – I wouldn't be in my dream car right now if it wasn't for him." "George was absolutely fantastic, both my brother and I bought cars at the same time the team made sure everything was sorted and ready in time. All the information they give beforehand, great genuine information. Will definitely be coming back." "George found me a G63 Brabus in the exact spec I wanted and managed to get it over the line in the short time frame I was working with, I use George for all my car requirements and he has never let me down! Fully recommend to any supercar enthusiasts." Sign up to receive weekly stock offerings, private off-market opportunities, and market insights direct from George Gehdu Cars.
