Seller's description
chassisnumber: 302806 enginenumber: 902975 enginetype: 901/05 gearboxnumber: 224258 exteriorcolour: Sand Beige (6607), now Light Ivory (6604) interiorcolour: Black Leatherette productiondate: 19 November 1965 Originally unveiled in 1963 as the 901, the 911 – as it was renamed upon production launch a year later – quickly became the celebrated successor to Porsche’s first production car, the 356. With its new 2.0-litre engine and all-around independent suspension, the bigger, more powerful and more refined 911 was designed with Grand Touring in mind, going onto to become arguably the most successful sports car ever built, with continuous development to this day. Retaining the familiar rear-engined, air-cooled ‘boxer’ configuration of its predecessor, the 911 acquired a new 1,991cc flat 6-cylinder power unit, producing 130hp at 6,2000rpm, alongside new four and five-speed manual transmission options, all-around disc brakes and a 2+2 seating layout. Chassis 302806, originally manufactured at Porsche AG, Stuttgart on 19 November 1965, left the factory bound for a life in the United States of America as evidenced by the Certificate of Production. The car was raced extensively in PCA and SCCA events in the 1990s and 2000s before being imported to the UK in 2013. The car was built up to the highest possible racing specification by marque experts Historika for the inaugural season of the 2.0L Cup in 2018. The car was raced successfully for three seasons by Sandy Watson and Andrew Kirkaldy achieving multiple podium finishes in that time. The car was then sold to its current owner who has raced the car for three of the last four seasons achieving a 2nd place finish at Barcelona in 2025 and also most recently at Dijon in 2026 – not to mention an outstanding second place finish at the Goodwood Revival Meeting Fordwater Trophy race in 2023. The car has been run to the highest possible standards by 2.0L Cup Champions Historika, Jordan Racing Team and Maxted-Page in this time, indicative of the care and experience supporting this car. The engine had a significant refresh before racing at Dijon this year and is ready to race again in 2.0L Cup, Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic, the Goodwood Members’ Meeting and Revival Meeting races (when they happen), the Spa Six Hours and the new Motor Racing Legends 2 Hour races in the UK, as well as many other events and rallies. The owner estimates just three hours’ use on the race engine as it had a full refresh before its last outing. A spare engine and gearbox, as well as other spares, are available by separate negotiation. This car has only been built and run by the best preparers and its asking price represents a substantial discount on the price of a ‘new build’ car as the 2 Litre Cup matures into its 10th year, having enjoyed strong grids throughout the 2026 season. Both owners to date are well-known perfectionists in the historic racing world and the quality of this car is testament to that approach. There are few 911s we would rather be strapped in at the opening round of the 2 Litre Cup at Spa-Francorchamps in 2027.
