Seller's description

The Emory Outlaw Speedster. 1955 Speedster Chassis 80344 (344th speedster built) Registration Number = [registration removed] (Registered for full road use UK) Production completion date = 3rd March 1955 Selling agent = Hoffman, New York Original colour = Speedster Blue Options = Odometer in miles and sealed beam head-lights Little history is known up until this car came out of long term storage in Portland Oregon 2002 It’s always wise to remember that a speedster was the cheap production Porsche of the time and not the highly sort after icon of today! Mr Walt Cox of Lacy, Washington State commissioned Emory Motorsports around 2003/ 2004 to make the car an Outlaw/ Race car. There are some good pictures of the car being built next to Rod Emory’s first and favourite Outlaw and the car used in the Video game Forza Horizon 4. The car’s spec:- Weight :- 1805 lbs (820kgs) Bore 83. 3mm x Stroke 74mm – 1620cc Nicki Cylinders JE Pistons SX Cam Carrillo Rods Eskushe Cylinder heads Skirmats (style) Velocity stacks Extended sump Oberg Square Filter in LH rear wing Front mounted coolers Skirmants Burch exhaust Disc brakes all-round with Adjustable bias Fully adjustable suspension front and back De-cambered and reinforced front axles Rose jointed Front anti-roll bar Integral roll cage 10, 000 RPM tacho Gearbox is Normal road gears with ZF limited slip diff. Full electrical cut off and full fire system Shell is designed with small fly screen or original screen can be fitted (Not with car) Passenger cover is removable to take passenger if required? It’s SCCA (Sports Car Club America) racing log book shows its first race at the spring Sprints (Seattle Pacific) 15th May 2004 and a further seven races up to 1st July 2010 It appears that the car was idle for period and then appears to be raced by Gary Emory and new owner Richard Emerson 2008. There is also mention from Richard Emerson that the car was built for Monte Sheldon? I think that Monte Sheldon was just a dealer who sold the car to Richard (advert for sale in March 06 It’s clear that the car was sold by Richard Emerson to Joe Liebsack before it ended up in the UK. One noticeable driver entrant in the car is a certain ‘Rod Emory’ at Pacific NW Historic meeting 30th July 2006 There are a few pictures of the car racing and also outside the Emory Motorsport RV The car seem to always run the number 33, although there is an early picture of the car as number 57. Originally running Fuchs wheels and then later Boyd Alloy ‘C’ wheels. SCCA Log Book shows:- 15th May 04- Spring Sprints –Seattle/ Pacific – Driver = Walt Cox 2nd July 04 – NW Historics – Seattle – Driver = Walt Cox 1st July 05 – NW Historics – Seattle – Driver = Walt Cox 30th July 06 – NW Historics – Seattle – Driver = Gary Emory 3rd July 08 – NW Historics – Seattle – Driver = Emerson 11th July 08 – Portland Historics – Driver = Rod Emory 4th May 09 – Spring Spints Seattle – Driver = Emerson 2nd July 09 – NW Historics – Portland – Driver = Emerson 10th May 10 – Spring Sprints - Seattle – Driver = Emerson 1st July 10 – NW Historics – Portland – Driver = Emerson The car was imported into the UK 26th April 2012 and owned by Brain Classic of Knutsford until sold to new owners (Myself) Paul and Mike Smith of P. R. Services LTD (PRS) 11th June 2015. PRS made the car ready for Uk/ European Road and track use. This is more involved that you may think as the car had no working lights, battery recharge system, second gear was on first gear shaft for a rolling start, solid engine mounts etc etc…. All is normal for American racing. The engine is the same unit used by Emory but the compression was reduced to enable use of normal pump gas. To our surprise we gained horse power by doing this? The gearbox has been changed so that it has normal road gears but with a limited slip diff. The white stripes were added by Simon Emory (Paintbox LTD) and pin striping along with the rear ‘PORSCHE’ badge were hand painted by Neil Melliard. Original Boyd wheels were changed to 944 Turbo space saver wheels but it now sits on Group4 Torque thrust 2’s. The Boyd wheels are stored. Since ownership by PRS, apart from car and coffee meets, the car was used as the film car for the 356 International 2018. Rod Emory came to the UK in 2019 and the car was sent up to Porsche Centre Bolton, where Rod sat in the car and presented an evening’s speech. A small track day at Castle Combe 2020 and Shere Hill climb 2021. Since Shere Hill Climb the Top end has been pulled down, checked, cleaned and reassembled and the car is now ready for immediate street or track use?
